Career success stories - Summer Baker

24th July, 2023

Since Summer Baker (Senior Lettings Negotiator, Clerkenwell) joined KFH on the trainee scheme in November 2021, she has been promoted not once, but twice. In January 2023, she won the 'Rising Star' award at the KFH Awards evening. Below she summarises her journey so far.

I am fairly new to the property industry, having started with KFH in November 2021. As this was my first role in property, I started on the KFH trainee programme. This was a great opportunity because it offers on-the-job training for anyone who wants to take their first steps into the industry. Once I'd started to learn the ropes, I immediately knew I wanted to do well in this role and was quickly promoted to lettings negotiator at the end of the January and I have since been promoted to senior lettings negotiator.

I have always worked in the Clerkenwell branch, which I love because not only does the local area have so much to offer, but we have a great team here. My branch director, Lewis, is always pushing me to be the best I can be, and I love working with the other negotiators and the branch coordinator who bring so much positivity and good vibes.

In January 2023 I was lucky enough to be awarded the 'Rising Star' award at the KFH Annual Awards Evening. I really do believe that everything worth achieving takes hard work, and at the end of 2022 I was on a mission to reach that end of year podium. It was therefore great to be recognised for my dedication… and even better to be awarded a place on the ski trip to Verbier!

I think it's common for people at the start of their career, particularly those in junior positions such as the trainees, to lack the confidence to succeed. However, KFH really does look after its people, and my career so far has been a great example of that. I love working for a company that encourages training and relationship building across all regions. If you work hard and want to succeed at KFH, then you will.

Now I have been promoted to senior lettings negotiator, I start my ARLA qualification this year with the hope of being qualified in 2024. I would eventually like to become the assistant manager of Clerkenwell. I am constantly chasing that next deal, and I always want more and more. I think it's exciting that I am still at the start of my career, and I can't wait to see what the future brings.

Summer has always worked in our Clerkenwell branch, an area she knows and loves
