Career success stories - Simone Young

Simone Young started with KFH back in 2010. Since then, she has worked in Battersea and Peckham, before being promoted to lettings branch director for Beckenham six years ago. Having recently returned from maternity leave, she reflects on her career journey so far, and the support she has received from KFH.

I have had an amazing career with KFH. I have been lucky enough to win three phenomenal trips to Verbier over the 12 years and been promoted in various offices.

My success started in the South West region in the Battersea branch, where I joined as a senior lettings negotiator in 2010. South West has always been home for me, so this was an easy transition as I knew the area well. During my time here, we were one of the first lettings offices to exceed the £1 million threshold. After over three years at the Battersea office, I felt it was time for a new challenge and made the decision to move to the South East region, where I was promoted to assistant manager of the Bromley and Blackheath branch.

My hard work didn’t go unnoticed, and I was soon encouraged to apply for lettings manager of the Peckham office. I applied, and following the interview process, I was successful! Peckham was a great experience. The area had changed dramatically and had a very cool, trendy east London feel. The rental prices in the area increased massively during that time, and Peckham was the desirable place to live for young professionals.

At the end of 2016 I was offered an amazing opportunity to be the lettings manager of a much larger office in Beckenham. At first, I was apprehensive as I didn’t know much about the market or the area, but I always welcome change and new challenges, so I started that role in February 2017. I have now managed the Beckenham office for five years. I absolutely love the area and have since relocated and purchased a property in Kent to be closer to work.

I have recently returned from maternity leave after having a baby girl who is now 13 months old. I feel truly privileged to be returning to my role as lettings branch director at Beckenham. It almost feels like I never left. It’s been a great transition for me; now I am working full time as a mother I feel grateful for the support KFH has provided me with. Juggling work and a child is always challenging but it makes it so much easier when you enjoy your job.
