International Men's Day

Why Leigh Munday, Sales Branch Director is our inspirational man this International Men's Day.

How do you try to be a role model for those in your team?

I try to lead by example.  I make sure I’m in the office before my team each morning to show that I hold myself to the same standards I expect from them.  I also prioritise being approachable and encourage everyone to play to their strengths, because when people feel comfortable and supported, they perform at their best.

What inspired you to start a career in property?

I came from a blue-collar background and wanted a career that would challenge me and offer growth.  The idea of a performance-based role really appealed to me, where the effort you put in directly impacts your success and earnings.  That sense of ownership and reward was a big motivator.

How has your journey with your brand evolved so far?

I started in our Streatham branch, barely knowing South London, and had the incredible opportunity to open our Clapham Common branch, which went on to hit record bankings for an opening branch.  Later, I moved to Balham and focused on evolving the office and increasing revenue.  Each step has been about learning, adapting, and driving results.

What do you love about your job?

The variety.  Residential sales is full of different facets; I get to be out on valuations, meet loads of new people and build relationships with clients.  Every client needs something different, and being a pivotal part of their buying or selling journey is hugely rewarding.

What advice would you give to younger people entering the property industry?

Be prepared to put in the effort and trust the compound returns on your hard work.  There are no shortcuts, real effort pays off.  Make those calls, learn about your buyers and vendors, read property news daily, and ask your Branch Director what you can do to take the next step.  Become an expert on everything property.

How do you take care of your physical and mental well-being?

My mornings are my time.  I train every day; running, cycling, swimming and weight training.  It gives me energy and clarity to tackle the day and has made a huge difference to my health.  I also make sure to switch off and spend quality time with my family – that balance is essential.

Do you have a particular moment or accomplishment you are proud of?

Work-wise, breaking the opening record with Clapham Common and hitting the magic £1 million with Balham for the first time were huge milestones.  Personally, completing Ironman Wales this year was a big one.  A few years ago, I’d never have imagined attempting it!  I also finished in the top 10 in the London Ultra 55k race this year, which was a proud moment.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I once played ‘World Cup doubles’ (football)  with Prince Harry when he was at Eton Collage – their playing fields were opposite my house!
