Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, one of London’s largest independent estate agents, has seen a significant increase in the number of people searching for property in the first two weeks of January.
Figures for the two business weeks in January so far show that traffic to the kfh.co.uk website is up by almost 15% compared to the same time last year. Similarly, online buyer enquiries for specific properties for sale are up by nearly 20% while in-branch registrations of those looking to purchase in the next few weeks have increased by almost 25% year on year.
The same has been seen across the lettings side of the business with a 14% increase in the number of tenant registrations while there was a 12% increase in the number of viewings conducted on the same time last year. Likewise, the number of offers agreed has shot up by almost 30%.
Paul Masters, Group Marketing and Operations Director, comments: “2013 has begun with a marked increase in the number of buyers and tenants looking for homes. While these numbers are incredibly positive for the market in general, there is still a shortage of stock available which indicates that prices may continue to rise further as competition for a smaller pool of properties heats up. Many landlords and sellers tend to think that spring is the best time to market, however if our figures are anything to go by, the January market could prove equally as good.”
