As average rents in London hit £1,510 per month,* Catford offers a relatively affordable option with average monthly rents currently standing at £1,375.** As such, demand is high and many are looking to move to this well-connected enclave.
Natalie comments: “We mainly see families looking to move to Catford, as they are drawn to the well-sized homes located on tree lined streets. Families tend to look for unfurnished properties so they can ‘put their stamp’ on their new homes. They also search for long tenancies in order to fully establish themselves in SE6. As well as larger homes, Catford offers good schools and amenities, and is very much a ‘family area’.
“However, we are also starting to see an influx of couples and young professionals moving to SE6. Many are keen on long tenancies on one to two bedroom flats having lived in larger house shares.
“Period properties are popular in Catford, particularly the Edwardian and Victorian conversions with gardens. Unusually for London, these properties tend to provide extras such as off-street parking, garages and outhouses. Ardfillan and Hawstead Road are two prime examples of such streets and are among the most sought-after in the area.”
