Why London’s riverside is such a draw for those relocating to the Capital with work

Riverside properties are very popular among businesses looking to relocate staff to London for both long and short term rental contracts. Living by the river gives many of these new residents a sense of getting the full ‘London’ experience, which is important for those who may only be located here for a short time. Properties along the Thames come in all shapes and sizes, which suits the variety of demands that come from those moving to the Capital with work.

Chiswick and Putney, is popular with families looking for traditional homes, while professional singles and couples are drawn to modern apartments in Fulham and Battersea that offer riverside living within striking distance of bars, restaurants and shops.

This four bedroom home in Kingston upon Thames is a great example of the type of property of interest to relocating families as it offers a riverside location with a village feel. With Kingston train station just a short walk away, central London is easily accessible.

Borough, Canada Water, and the docklands are all a short distance from the financial centres of the City and Canary Wharf, which appeals to those working in the financial sector – particular staff from China, whose desire to live by the river is often associated with the Feng Shui belief that living by water brings tremendous wealth.

This house in Surrey Quays is a great example of the type of property professionals are on the hunt for. With views of Canary Wharf from its picturesque terrace, locations like this offer the serenity of riverside living with the proximity to the City and Docklands that makes long working hours much more bearable.

While the summer months tend to slow down in the sales market, in the rental market – particularly corporate lettings – July and August tend to be busy months as families attempt to secure properties before the start of the school year and singles and couples move to the Capital following summer breaks.
